Onondaga County Family Court
The family court deals primarily with the problems of children and their families. The court hears cases involving: abuse and neglect of children, custody and rights to visit children, family offenses including abuse of spouses and other family members, children who may have committed crimes (Juvenile Delinquency, children who are not charged with crimes but who may need supervision, treatment or placement (PINS) paternity, support of children, spouses and ex-spouses, planning for children who have been in foster care for a year or longer, and or termination of parental rights.
Juvenile Detention
The goal of Juvenile Justice process is to provide services to support the child and family to deter problematic behaviors in children without court involvement. The Juvenile Justice law requires that the County provide an avenue for parents and schools to have access to programs and services in a timely manner to address Juvenile Justice behavior. Juvenile Justice is a process that involves a series of community supports to assist families and youth.
Onondaga County Mental FFT
Offers a therapeutic, family-based prevention and intervention program that averages 12-16 sessions and is intended to improve mental health outcomes for at risk adolescents and their families. Serves adjudicated adolescents, ages 11 through 16, and their families, or families who are at risk of their children being placed in foster care because of abuse and/or neglect.

To this end, PEACE, Inc. provides a continuum of services for the entire family from infants to the elderly. The majority of individuals we serve have incomes placing them at or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Probation
Probation is an alternative to incarceration that allows certain offenders to live and work in the community, support their families, participate in counseling services and make restitution to the victims of their crimes. Probation is the most common sentence imposed by the courts in the United States. The Probation Department provides public safety through supervision, treatment and prevention. Probation Officers are peace officers with dual responsibilities of protection of the community and rehabilitation of the offender. The ultimate goal is long term public safety and the reduction of further victimization.
Syracuse University Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic
The Couple and Family Therapy Center offers no cost, confidential therapy services to families, couples, and individuals who are coping with life’s challenges. Some of the issues most frequently addressed at the Center include resolving marital and couple difficulties; easing relationship or communication struggles; helping a troubled child, teenager, or family; moving beyond family violence or substance abuse; or dealing with emotional distress such as anxiety or depression, grief, and loss. All therapists practice from a family systems perspective, focusing on relationships and strengths within clients, couples, and families.
